Skin pigmentation can be a problem for people of all ages and skin types. Our skin contains melanin to give it colour. This can sometimes become concentrated in one area of the skin, causing pigmented areas that can be dark and noticeable. These high concentrations of melanin can occur for a number of reasons, including hereditary factors, age and overexposure to the sun.
HOW CAN IT BE TREATED?
Skin pigmentation can be significantly reduced or removed with our Vasculight system using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Each pulse is designed to produce specific light wavelengths which target the skin cells which contain an excessive concentration of melanin. As the IPL technology uses targeted pulses of light, it will not destroy or damage surrounding tissue. By rapidly absorbing the light energy these high concentrations of melanin break down and the pigmented granules are destroyed. This causes a reduction in the appearance of skin pigmentation and leaves skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
